Like I would drive them, but it would be just on weekends when the barometric pressure is right and most of the gravel is off the roads.....and no mall parking lots.
I used to take my car to Detroit, man! And leave it parked there!

To me, it was worse to not drive it.

But I understand what you mean....but only a little.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

I don't mean if I bought a new Ferarri or Lambo, that I wouldn't be worried about, its just a new car, expensive, but it can be repaired or replaced without problems. I'm talking about a Yenko Nova or a 454SS Chevelle, some truly rare.
Lighten up Francis.....

Well the body panels on those are easy to repair.

I'd be more concerned about engine being stolen.

Well...a truly special car might not be for you if if would give you such angst.

But damn...that thing would tease me to death just sitting in the garage!

It would totally, thats why I would rather build something out of a Dynacorn body and a G Machine chassis. I would be a lot less caring because its a new car. I however couldn't leave a 72 911 RS unattended while I ran in for a slurpee at 7/11

The thought of drinking a slurpee in the 911 RS is more scary.  ;D :o

I would for sure install an FI kit on any old V-8 car and keep the original carb for reinstall later.  Those systems REALLY improve the car - probably one of the most significant driveability improvements you can make.

Down shift from 5th to 2nd. Also sheared off the flywheel bolts.
Enjoying the Alberta advantage

surprised it didn't simply lock up the wheels rather than pooch the engine.

Did this once in my '91 prelude.  It was a butt puckering event for sure.  Engine instantly redlined and tires chirped.  Everything seemed fine after that though.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

????, transmission and driveline don't care how fast they are going, the engine sure does though. It gets over revved way past redline.

This is a common occurrence in 911s with the 915 tranny.  It is known as "the money shift".

Hmmm. If my engine blew up I'm not sure I'd have told the dealer I had shifted from 5th to 2nd.  ;)
Did it show somewhere during diagnostics the engine went past redline?
Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

On Porsches they do. Every. Single. Over-rev.

yea, i guess...in this day and age, they can't lock out gears to prevent that from happening?
