Good looking picture of vehicle. Would like to see one in person to see how it compares.

I'm skeptical on the posted fuel economy ratings considering Hyudai has been less than stellar in regards to posted numbers.

I may be in the few, but really liked it when leather was a separate option without having to get sunroof. Never liked sunroofs considering height.

If I want sun on my head I'll get a convertible.

I like the looks of this thing, but again, are any of these little CUV things big enough to actually have a 3rd row?? Wouldnt that be better as just a place to put cargo or have a lower load floor or maybe stuff the spare tire inside......something.
Lighten up Francis.....

The XL has a longer wheelbase than the standard Santa Fe, and the rear end is more box like. The seats fold flat, so I dunno.

My Mazda 5 had 3 rows and still had a compact spare tire inside, tucked under the 3rd row seat. It was still easy enough to get out by removing the covered cargo tray.

Very nice. Win for Hyundai.

I don't think the Sante Fe is very small at all..I thought it's along the lines of the Ford Edge or mid-sized.

Pretty good pricing too, I bet they sell like mad and current Santa Fe owners will be happy to stick with the brand and trade up instead of out.

Nice looking unit. If you are complaining about fuel mileage but cheer about 290 HP seek help.

I've seen it in person at the Montreal Auto Show where Hyundai had more than a few of them on display and on the floor. It looks huge - Explorer-sized, even. As with all of these things, the 3rd row is very small and the trunk is nearly nill when the 3rd row is up. At least, the rear 3/4 visibility is better than on the shorter Sante Fe Sport.  The best non-minivan in that category is still the Ford Flex, but if you really need all three rows on a daily basis, get a minivan.

It does have a huge trunk when the 3rd row is stored.

290 Hyundai rated HP will feel more like 250HP. Nice looking unit tho.

Looks good, as expected.

252lb-ft of torque is pretty weak for the size, though.

Plus, not offering the rearview camera in the FWD and AWD Premium trims is not so good, either.

Good point.   Backup cameras are becoming pretty much expected in these things.

Why are people all hot and bothered about back up cameras. The only reason Id like one on my truck is to hook up the trailer but otherwise I cant see any reason for them.

They're like a lot of other optional extras like keyless push button start, power tailgates, power memoery seats, automatic headlights etc etc. Nobody really needs them but once you've had them you get spoiled  ;D

I like them for backing into a parking spot and ensuring I park on the correct azimuth within a few seconds. In my concrete driveway I follow a cut line and usually park within 25mm each time. No substitute for precision parking  :)

Only 215 mm longer , that is probably the length of my fingers spread out  and putting a 3rd row in, that maybe good  for the dog

They also need to make it wider

I can see the value of a rear camera, but to be honest the Premium AWD would fit my needs just fine. Both the Acadia and the Explorer came with the back up sensor and I love it. My mirrors cover what is behind and I use them to guide me, however there is a little blind spot that is below the rear window that the camera could catch.

Price wise it fits real well into my needs and could be the replacement for the Explorer in 2015. By then the option sheet might have changed a little. I like the looks of it though and it's on the list.

Great.....yet another thing that can break. What idiot thought this was a good idea, if you need a backup camera on a sedan, coupe or hatchback, you shouldnt be driving.

True.. but it can't hurt too much to have one.  I wonder, if it breaks, are you legally responsible to fix it?
