CHANGES FOR 2015:

– Escalade EXT dropped.
– Paint changes: Midnight Plum Metallic changed.

With the introduction of new trucks also comes new full-size SUVs from General Motors. If you walk far enough to the luxurious end of GM’s SUV stable, only one horse is present: the Escalade.

The fourth generation luxo-ute is still an Escalade without doubt. Proportions and design still exude a larger than life image, even if the rear end design is quite derivative of the other SUVs General Motors has in its lot. Escalade will come in two wrappers, regular wheelbase Escalade and long wheelbase Escalade ESV. Gone are the EXT pickup and Escalade Hybrid, though the electrified Escalade could make a comeback later in life.

Power comes from top engine of the new EcoTec3 line – the 6.2-litre V8 – with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. However, the delivery of that power is still done through a six-speed automatic.

Specific trim details and pricing will be available closer to the official launch late in 2014.
