This second generation of the “new” Beetle gets a profile closer to the original Bug, and with that comes improved rear passenger and cargo room. Volkswagen is looking to draw a more masculine audience with this lower, longer, and wider redux. While the non-turbo Bug comes with a rear torsion beam suspension, the Turbo’s chassis features multilink setup in back, giving open road comfort and spirited handling through the turns. The interior quality and design leap ahead from the previous model.

The Beetle Coupe is available with three different engines and four possible transmission options:

– 2.5L 5-cylinder engine producing 170 hp and 177 lb-ft mated to either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic with Tiptronic, only available in Comfortline or Highline trims.

The old New Beetle Convertible wasn’t one of the most practical drop tops out there, or one of the nicest looking. But, for 2013 Volkswagen has brought us a new Beetle Convertible no longer called the ‘New Beetle’. Confused yet? No matter, the newest of the Beetles resembles the original air-cooled classic we have all grown to love far more than the previous model. This new design is more than just atheistically pleasing though as 2013 Beetle Convertible has a far more usable rear seat and trunk than the outgoing model. If you want a turbocharged Beetle that can drop its top, you will have to wait until 2014.

The Beetle Convertible is only available with a 2.5L 5-cylinder engine producing 170 hp and 177 lb-ft mated to a 6-speed automatic with Tiptronic.
