For 2012, the Maserati GranTurismo lineup changes significantly. The GranTurismo has been discontinued, while two new models come in: the limited-production GranTurismo MC coupe and the GranTurismo Convertible Sport. The MC, created by the Maserati Corse racing team, is based on the styling of the European GranTurismo MC Stradale and is the fastest production Maserati available in North America.
The GranTurismo lineup consists of the GranTurismo S and GranTurismo MC coupes, and the GranTurismo Convertible and Convertible Sport. All use a 4.7-litre V8 that is revised for extra horsepower in the MC and Sport, and all use a six-speed electro-actuated automated transmission.
Features on the GranTurismo S include 20-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive bi-xenon headlamps with washers, fog lamps, LED taillamps, auto-dimming rearview mirror, cross-drilled front rotors, heated mirrors, electric door and trunk opening assist, rear parking sensors, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, leather and Alcantara upholstery, power-adjustable leather sport seats, aluminum texture interior trim, anti-theft alarm, keyless entry, cruise control, multimedia system, navigation system, and rain-sensing wipers.
The MC adds 20-inch lightweight wheels, MC Shift-Controlled ZF transmission, aerodynamics package, single-rate suspension system, central exhaust outlets, sport seats and unique instrument cluster.
The GranTurismo Convertible builds on the GranTurismo S and adds a three-layer power-operated cloth top.
The GranTurismo Convertible Sport adds black grille and headlamp surrounds, aluminum pedals, and brushed aluminum sill plates.
