Unification Church opens car plant in North Korea

Seoul, South Korea – Reuters news agency reports that South Korea’s Unification Church, founded by Reverend Sun Young Moon, has finished construction of a U.S.$55 million vehicle assembly plant in the port city of Nampo, North Korea. A grand opening is scheduled for April 5th, and the plant expects to build up to 20,000 cars per year. The North Korean government has already pledged to buy 1,000 cars per year.

Though North Korea has a population of 23 million people, there are only 3,000 passenger cars, reports Reuters. There are, however approximately 300,000 government and military vehicles in North Korea.
