During the Toyota Canada 2014 Corolla press conference today at the Canada Science and Technology Museum in Ottawa, two representatives for the company stated the new compact will not be available in beige.

But it will be available in beige, at least according to multiple press images showing the new compact in the most unflattering of shades.

Toyota Canada, who could have pulled off the biggest coup d’état against the unimaginative colour, will produce the Corolla in beige right here in our home and native land.

We currently have a line out to Toyota Canada PR but so far we haven’t heard back.

UPDATE: We did get a reply back from Melanie Testani, Product Communications for Toyota Canada: “The sandy beach colour was discontinued for 2014.  I believe the colour you’re seeing is a new bronze colour that is available, which is not sandy beach nor beige.”

Toyota thinks the colour above is bronze. We think its’ beige. Here are some colour examples.

This is the stereotypical Sandy Beach mentioned by Melanie, discontinued for the 2014 model year, shown on a 2011 Corolla.

Here we have a Hyundai Accent in a colour called Mocha Bronze. Significantly darker than the Sandy Beach above.

And here is the new colour of contention, a “new bronze” colour. It sits somewhere in between the two examples above.

What do you think? Is this new colour bronze or beige? Let us know in the comments.
