Limit would increase, decrease based on weather, traffic

According to AutoGo, Quebec is investigating the feasibility of variable speed limits on certain roads in the province. The limits would increase or decrease based on numerous factors, including traffic and weather.

Minister of Transport Robert Poëti said the pilot project will not take place on provincial highways. Instead, they will be performed on secondary roads with speed limits of under 100 km/h to start. The minister did not disclose exactly which roads would be piloted.

Two pilot projects will be implemented in the province – one in Montreal and the other in Quebec.
