Ford To Build Edge Long Wheelbase For China

The new Ford Edge will head to China with extra rear legroom

During the 2014 Ford Model Year Preview in Dearborn, Autos.ca has learned the manufacturer will be making a special model for Chinese tastes.

The new Edge will be available in long wheelbase configuration for extra legroom, much like other executive sedans and SUVs in China.

Speaking to someone close to the project, the long wheelbase Edge will share almost all major sheetmetal with the short wheelbase model, except for the addition of longer rear doors.

The 2015 Edge will be built for global markets at Ford’s Oakville Assembly plant in Oakville, Ontario.
