The hotly anticipated compact V likely to be powered by twin-turbo V6

Cadillac won’t be heading to Los Angeles with only a refreshed version of the ELR luxury electric coupe. The soon-to-be New York based automaker is expected to arrive with the hotly anticipated ATS-V as well.

The new top-level ATS is rumoured to be powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine, probably the same one found in the CTS Vsport, measuring in at 3.6 litres in displacement. This will make the ATS’s powerplant just slightly larger than the one found in the new BMW M3 and M4, which measures in at 3.0 litres.

It will also mark the first time a V-badged Cadillac has been given an engine smaller than a V8, though the forthcoming CTS-V looks to continue that tradition.

The Detroit Bureau believes the ATS-V will produce around 450 hp thanks to some tuning work to the 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6.
