Ford’s savvy former CEO to sit on Google’s Audit Committee

As of July 9th, Google has a new appointee on its Board of Directors. Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally has joined Google after departing the CEO seat at the Dearborn, Michigan automaker and will also sit on Google’s Audit Committee.

While Mulally’s duties will be fairly hands-off at Google, the search engine company is in the middle of developing an autonomous vehicle and Mulally could add some credibility to that venture.

“I am honored to serve on the board of a global iconic company that is dedicated to enhancing our lives,” Mulally said in a statement. “I look forward to working together with the Google board and management team to continue to deliver their compelling vision.”

Mulally is 68 years old and is succeeded by Mark Fields, Ford’s former chief operating officer.
