Dent's new to him car ... 1981 Triumph TR8 - V8 power
« on: September 29, 2016, 12:50:30 pm »
Its got more power than the Aries - duh.

Because its got a V8 and dual exhaust.

Its also got a manual gearbox ...

No good photos yet as I only got it home at 1:30am last night.

Any guesses? I'll add some more clues as we go.

Mustang or Camaro seem too mainstream.

Something big, American and pushing out a whopping 120-140 hp from that V8 is my guess. A 1980s land yacht?

I suspect that there are so few of those Daimlers that they'd  be too expensive for Arthur....but you're right it would suit him.

Some of you are very, very warm and getting close.

I spent more than I usually do but certainly not Daimler Dart money. Not a MG B V8. Its not a Rover SD1. Not a 80s boat.

It IS from the 80s. It is a sporty/sports car.

And most oddly my wife says she might consider being a passenger in it.

There is a fairly ratty brown Daimler in town here. It seems to be serviceable, not blowing any smoke, or making weird noises and the lights seem to work. It sounds very nice.

Yes!!!

1981 Triumph TR8.

Rare car - one of 2722 to 2815 ever built. Factory 148hp 3.5L V8. Mine is fuel injected with a 5spd manual. Needs some brake and electrical work. And maybe a new top at some point.
