Certainly a looker.  But the "KIA" badge has got to go or it's DOA.

what has to go is the badge snobbery...judge a vehicle on its merits, not the name on the hood.

I see you an unfamiliar with human nature.
You can't just have your characters announce how they feel.
That makes me feel angry!

Yawn, this much better looking Audi TT/S5 type copy idea was floated 5 years ago. By the time they get to market, they will be obsolete. Same goes for Genesis and its ill timed product launches (oversized cars first, we will getaroundtuit regarding a luxury performance compact). Get the lead out!

http://thekoreancarblog.com/2011/07/07/kia-unveil-v8powered-rearwheel-drive-coupe-frankfurt-motor-show/

And, they have to make a quantum leap in suspension management to achieve both comfort and performance simultaneously, and get rid of the silly design bits, or it will sit on lots. Unless the crowd described in this song takes a shine to it.   :rofl2:

Hyundai managed to vastly improve the new Genesis sedan, i'm sure Kia could achieve vast improvements as well...Hyundai/Kia have a tech centre located at the Nürburgring where their prime focus is R&D on such things.

The question isn't the badge or how it looks, it's how it drives.  If it drives better then a BMW then it will be a great car.

I'd love it if it could do it with a KIA badge.  Shake up the badge snobs.

Yup.  Kind of like how Datsun did with the original 240Z.

Should be interesting to see what they come out with.  And hopefully, they get smart and offer it with a manual transmission through all trim levels and engine combinations.

All the new Cadillacs drive better than BMW.....they drive better than anything in their class. There's much more to the puzzle.
Need a stand alone building also

But Cadillac is a premium brand too.   It's just a brand that the snobs aren't into.

Mixmanmash's comment on the Datsun 240 is more the point I was making.

Have Kia win LeMans a time or two and get back to me.
There is occasionally more to badges than a piece of plastic.

sure...as soon as Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus or Nissan/Infiniti win too...heck, even Mercedes has only ever won it twice, and BMW once.

This reminds me of a Genesis coup , looks good, if it handle all the better
At $30 gs  it will find a market , if it is loaded, it will  attract drivers who want the most bang per dollar
It could do better in areas where there is no BMW or MB dealerships

But I really think KIA should strick to  entry level cars and leave this to the Genesis line

If Hyundai/Kia want to do this sort of thing successfully they need to step up and launch a luxury brand a la Lexus or Infiniti. Duel stores might work to hold down costs in smaller markets but they would need to be separate showrooms and service reception.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

True.  That's how Datsun/Nissan got popular.  Winning a few races (East African Safari, IMSA) really pushed the sales.

Lol

Nothing says "you've made it" like going out and splurging on a Kia
meh...i'm not pretentious prick who needs to announce to the world "I've made it"...as well, lots of people who drive those vehicles lease them anyway, so they haven't really "made it", they are simply trying to look the part (or trying to avoid the high costs of ownership often associated with owning an FGC when it's out of warranty).

I agree, I would jusge the car on the way it drove, the noise it made and the tire smoke I could get out of it more than whatever Chinese plastic badging is on the grille.
