^^Are they still grounded worldwide due to that battery issue?  Last I heard they still didn't know why the batteries were going squirrely.

Oh gosh...the battery issue was about a year ago. They delivered ten 787s in March and about 10 per month are entering final assembly. 135 planes have been delivered to 21 operators. ANA (Japan) has 27 787s now operating in the fleet.

They never figured out the battery problem...which doesn't surprise me in the least. Lithium batteries are wonky.  They put them in fireproof boxes and vented them to the outside air.

Oh gosh...the battery issue was about a year ago.

It's still happening.  Japan's 787 fleet was grounded in Jan. 2014 because of another battery fire...

?
From January:

"(Reuters) - Japan Airlines Co Ltd said it temporarily grounded one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners at Tokyo's Narita International Airport on Tuesday...The plane, due to depart from Narita for Bangkok, was taken out of service, and the 158 passengers due to board the plane were put on a separate 787, JAL said."

I see no record of any fleet grounding.

Passengers were transferred from one JAL 787 to another JAL 787.

One battery cell vented and leaked. No fire damage was found. This happens on airplanes every day. Smoke events are normal inconveniences. Last month (March 28) All Nippon Airways of Japan ordered another fourteen 787-9s.

^^All I know is, I won't be flying on any 787 if I can avoid it.  Too many bugs in the machine.

Pre lease return inspection being done as I type this. Should be interesting to see how picky they are.

Who the inspection company?  Datascan did mine.  As long as there isn't anything glaringly wrong, you should be golden.

my wife had no issues returning her Yaris.  I was surprised since I thought they be sticklers for not getting another Toyota.

Local insurance appraisal co working for Datascan. From reading the guide I think I'll need a windshield at least (repaired rock chip but in the sweep of the wipers) and maybe paint on rr bumper ....some nice person scuffed the corner in a parking lot and it's through to the black plactic in one spot....the line may be just a bit longer than the credit card size gauge they use.

The cost of returning it may influence whether or not I buy it.
