Oh gosh...the battery issue was about a year ago.
It's still happening. Japan's 787 fleet was grounded in Jan. 2014 because of another battery fire...
?
From January:
"(Reuters) - Japan Airlines Co Ltd said it
temporarily grounded one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners at Tokyo's Narita International Airport on Tuesday...The plane, due to depart from Narita for Bangkok, was taken out of service, and
the 158 passengers due to board the plane were put on a separate 787, JAL said."
I see no record of any fleet grounding.
Passengers were transferred from one JAL 787 to another JAL 787.
One battery cell vented and leaked. No fire damage was found. This happens on airplanes every day. Smoke events are normal inconveniences. Last month (March 28) All Nippon Airways of Japan ordered another fourteen 787-9s.
