Los Angeles, California — For decades, Cadillac defined the luxury vehicle segment in North America. Luxury cars were, and still are, described today as riding “like a Cadillac.” But in recent years, the Germans have been redefining the segment with luxury vehicles that offer better dynamics, modern sophistication and the technology that today’s luxury buyers seek. Meanwhile, Lexus has been “out-Cadillacing” Cadillac with vehicles that offer reliability and that signature Cadillac ride.

At the Los Angeles auto show last week, Cadillac unveiled the 2013 Cadillac XTS, the brand’s newest edition to their luxury sedan lineup and a vehicle Cadillac hopes will not only put them back onto the map, but catapult them ahead of the competition by offering unparalleled luxury, driving dynamics and technology.

The XTS arrives in showrooms in Canada in the spring of 2012 as the most technologically advanced production car in the brand’s history and will replace the STS and DTS sedans.

Cadillac continues with its “Art and Science” design language for the exterior of the XTS but it has evolved with the addition of some softer curved areas around the front and sides of the vehicle.

Larger than the CTS, the new XTS delivers the space, elegance and presence that are Cadillac signatures, but with entirely new and technically advanced methods tuned for the new generation of luxury customers. It also marks the debut of CUE (Cadillac User Experience), a comprehensive in-vehicle experience that merges intuitive design with auto industry-first controls and commands for information and media control.

Cadillac’s CUE is a highly customizable user interface: at the heart of the system is an eight-inch touch-screen with haptic feedback and a fully capacitive faceplate that pulses when pressed to acknowledge the driver’s commands and thus keep the driver’s eyes on the road. Other key features of CUE include multi-touch hand gestures, reconfigurable gauge cluster and natural speed recognition. Think of it as an iPad or iPhone built right into the car — easy to use and highly versatile.

“Technology helps the XTS deliver more with less,” said Dean. “Choreographed interior lighting and other unique features tailored to individual driver preferences complement CUE to create an exceptionally refined and advanced ambience.”
