Montreal, Quebec – The new Mercedes-Benz GKL350 4Matic has premiered at the 2009 Montreal International Auto Show. The company said it is intended to conquer the midsize premium SUV segment with its powerful engine, confident presence and luxurious interior when it goes on sale early this year.

Powered by a 268-horsepower 3.5-litre V6 engine, the GLK350 4Matic will form the basis of the Canadian line-up, with standard 19-inch, 10-spoke wheels. It will be produced exclusively at Mercedes-Benz’s plant in Bremen, Germany.

“With the G-Class, we created a style icon that has been a benchmark in SUV design for the past 30 years,” said design chief Peter Pfeiffer. “Combining this bold concept with the latest Mercedes-Benz design idiom makes the GLK a vehicle of genuine character.”

Standard equipment includes automatic climate control, power seats, Bluetooth and colour display screen; optional is a panoramic sunroof with power sunshades, and dual-screen DVD rear-seat entertainment system. The optional COMAND navigation system includes a new-generation voice control system for audio, telephone and navigation that accepts commands and full words, without the need to first learn the user’s voice.
