The much anticipated RAM 1500 EcoDiesel is my tester for this week and according to the EnerGuide sticker this vehicle is rated to achieve an amazing 7.4L/100km highway and 10.6L/100km city in a large truck? I’ll be really amazed if that happens, but I’m expecting good results nonetheless.
This tester does have a brake controller installed so you are in luck, I plan on towing my race car hauler fully loaded which is around 6,000lbs off to the track on Wednesday so that should be a good test of this trucks hauling ability and something that is realistic for owners.

This tester is loaded to the nines, or should I say 70s? Over $70,000 for this model which has every feature under the sun as far as I can tell. Navigation, rear backup camera, heated and cooled seats, keyless entry and start, moonroof, rear locking differential, 4×4, and the RAMBOX cargo system.
All of these options come out to $15,100 which is kind of nuts, but that includes the $4,500 option for the 3.0-litre EcoDiesel powerplant. This new engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and delivers an impressive 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.
The result is that this week I have a truck that looks great but should be able to perform the task of hauling air and cargo extremely well, while not breaking the bank at the pumps.
