Sure it isn’t a true CTS-V but this new offering form Cadillac the CTS Vsport comes pretty close in a few areas to the previous CTS-V Sedan, including the area that most buyers are interested in — horsepower. The CTS Vsport provides a heart throbbing amount of power from its twin-turbo 3.6L V6 engine that produces 420 hp and perhaps more importantly 430 lb-ft of torque.

The new CTS is larger than the outgoing model so perhaps a less-raw Vsport makes more sense than before, while the CTS-V is certainly a beast, this new Vsport tries to strike a balance between an untamed animal and a comfortable and luxurious daily driver.

The interior is stacked with appointments one expects from a 2014 CTS with the Cadillac CUE system front and centre. Leather seating, leather-wrapped dash and centre console and carbon-fibre trim pieces round out the interior goodness — this CTS does feel more special than the standard one I drove not long ago.

To the casual onlooker this CTS does not look different or special but one blip of the throttle certainly will get you noticed as this CTS is tuned for aural pleasure.

From a driving perspective the Vsport offers some unique traits as well; for one it is only available in rear-wheel-drive layout, no all-wheel-drive nanny here. The transmission is also unique, an eight-speed box equipped with paddle shifters and a manual mode — methinks someone is going to have a fun week.
