Coupled with 17″ tires, a fully independent suspension; front MacPherson struts; multilink rear + coil springs; front and rear anti sway bars, a power assisted rack and pinion steering and Sport Tuned Suspension (springs, shocks) on the GTS, you would expect fairly good handling abilities and the Galant does not disappoint.

The Galant’s ride is exceptionally quiet and smooth over undulations in the pavement, despite this it still handles remarkably well, there is no need for bone jarring ride quality to achieve good handling dynamics.

One key standout driving dynamic of the Galant are the brakes, easily modulated with extremely good bite and stopping power typically not a standout characteristic of cars in this class. Mitsubishi definitely put some effort into the driving dynamics of the Galant to differentiate itself in this class.

I had a chance to push the Galant a little today and was really surprised how well it held a line through a corner, although body roll was significant leaving the impression at higher speeds it may be a little less fun. Although there is a limit to what one can do with a heavy mid-sized sedan.

The 3.8 Litre V6 in Galant had me a little worried for my pocket book, great power always comes with great responsibility they say. Premium fuel is recommended in the Galant and a heavy foot will ensure you will constantly be at the pumps for feeding time. Drive the Galant conservatively though and one can achieve a respectable 11L/100km in the city, while the government ratings indicate only 12L/100km city and 8L/100km on the highway I managed to seemingly achieve better results.
