– Redesigned model

For 2012, the Mazda5 is completely redesigned, including new styling, a new engine and new standard safety features. Some of the specific changes include a more powerful engine, a standard six-speed manual transmission in place of the previous five-speed, air conditioning on all models, and standard stability and traction control.

The Mazda5 uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission or optional five-speed automatic. Trim levels are the GS and GT.

Features on the GS include 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, black grille, power mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, intermittent rear wiper, automatic headlamps, dual sliding doors, outside temperature gauge, tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio controls, keyless entry, auto-down driver’s window, illuminated entry, electroluminescent gauges, manual driver’s height adjustment, second-row fore-and-aft sliding seats, 50/50 split-folding third-row seat, floor mats, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, and active front head restraints.

The GT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, tire pressure monitoring system, side sill extensions, dark silver grille, heated mirrors, xenon headlamps, fog lights, rear spoiler, cruise control, heated front seats, driver’s lumbar support, leather-wrapped steering wheel, trip computer, six-CD/MP3 stereo, Bluetooth connectivity with audio profile, Sirius satellite radio and anti-theft alarm.

The GS can be optioned with a Convenience Package of Bluetooth connectivity with audio profile, cruise control, trip computer, leather-wrapped steering wheel and anti-theft alarm.

The GT can be optioned with a Luxury Package of leather upholstery, centre row fold-out cargo table/bin, and power sunroof.
