CHANGES FOR 2014:

– Brand new model.

For 2014, the Mazda3 gets a completely new look and architecture to celebrate its divorce from the Blue Oval. The compact hatchback and sedan now features the entirety of Mazda’s SkyActiv technologies to provide a new level of efficiency while bolstering the connection between driver and car thanks to Mazda’s Jinba Ittai philosophy.

Two SkyActiv four-cylinder engines are available in 2.0L and 2.5L flavours, with the six-speed manual only available with the smaller of the two mills. The 2.5L comes standard with a six-speed automatic.

The 2014 Mazda3 will be available in Sport (hatchback) and Sedan body styles in three trim levels: GX, GS and GT.

The base GX will include 16-inch tires and steel wheels, keyless entry and power door locks, power windows and power mirrors, tilt and telescopic steering wheel. New standard features in the base GX will include the 155-hp 2.0L SkyActiv motor, six-speed manual SkyActiv transmission, Bluetooth connectivity, dual exhausts, and auto-off headlights. As well, air conditioning and a new six-speed automatic SkyActiv transmission will be the only options.

The mid-range Mazda3 GS trim will include everything in the GX plus standard air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler (on sedan), HD radio with 6 speakers, trip computer, cruise control, rear seat armrest with cupholders, and illuminated vanity mirrors. New for 2014 are the centre TFT colour display, rearview camera, HMI Commander, SD card slot, and side mirror indicators.

The GS will also be available with an optional Convenience Package that includes heated front seats, heated mirrors, leather wrapped steering wheel, parking brake handle and shift knob and rain sensing wipers. An optional Moonroof Package includes power moonroof and front fog lights. A 6-speed automatic SkyActiv transmission is also optional.

The top-of-the-line GT will come with the new 2.5L SkyActiv four-cylinder engine and the new 6-speed SkyActiv automatic transmission with Sport mode and paddles shifters, 215/45R18 all-season tires and 18-inch alloys, and the new Heads Up display. Also standard in the GT will be dual-zone automatic climate control, Navigation system with voice activation, keyless entry, and bi-xenon headlights.
