NEW FOR 2015:

– Reverse camera standard on LX trim

If you’re in the market for an affordable coupe – and we’re talking about a proper coupe, not a hatchback – there’s not much choice. In fact, if you’re looking to spend less than $20,000 there’s only one: the Honda Civic. The Civic’s far from a bad choice, too – it is, after all, Canada’s bestselling car, and has been for the past 17 years. For 2015, there aren’t any major changes other than that a reverse camera is now standard on the base LX trim.

The Civic Coupe is available in LX, EX, EX-L Navi, and Si trims.

Other than the Si, all Civic Coupes use a 1.8-litre 16-valve single-cam four-cylinder engine that makes 143 hp and 129 lb-ft of torque. The Si has a more potent 2.4-litre dual-cam four-cylinder that develops 205 hp, 174 lb-ft of torque, and a zesty exhaust note.

A choice of three transmissions are available in the Civic. The LX and EX are available with either a five-speed manual or a CVT transmission; the EX-L Navi mandates the use of the automatic. On the other hand, the Si comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential. All transmissions drive the front wheels.

A five-speed manual is the standard transmission available on the LX and EX models while the EX-L Navi comes with a CVT only. The Si can only offered with a six-speed manual and limited slip differential. All Civics are front-wheel drive.

Features on the LX include EcoAssist system with Econ mode, 16-inch steel wheels, body-coloured door handles, integrated deck lid spoiler, air conditioning and filtration, exterior temperature indicator, Bluetooth, trip computer, Smart Maintenance Minder, power door locks, remote keyless entry with electronic trunk release, steering wheel-mounted cruise control, tilt/telescopic steering, 6-way driver’s seat, floor mats, 60/40 split/fold rear seat, heated front seats, 6-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio with auxiliary and USB ports, Bluetooth streaming audio, illuminated steering wheel mounted audio controls, and a reverse camera.

EX adds steering wheel mounted paddle shifters (CVT only), 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, HondaLink Assist automatic emergency response system, power moonroof with tilt, automatic climate control, LaneWatch blind spot display, speed-sensing variable intermittent windshield wipers, rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, power windows with auto-up/down driver’s window, proximity key with push button start, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Display Audio system, a second USB port, HDMI input, and Siri Eyes Free compatibility.

EX-L Navi adds continuously variable transmission, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, fog lights, automatic headlights, Display Audio with navigation, multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, leather-trimmed seating, 7-speaker audio with subwoofer and satellite radio.

Si adds 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, six-speed manual transmission, limited-slip differential, 18-inch aluminum wheels, unique rear spoiler, exhaust finisher, and aluminum trimmed sport pedals. The EcoAssist system is removed, as are the leather-upholstered seats.
