Perhaps Honda’s smartest vehicle, the Fit is cheaper than the Honda hybrids yet gets similar real-world mileage, delivers more driving fun, and boasts the cleverest interior packaging in all of autodom. The multi-configurable rear Magic Seat has more tricks up its sleeve than Criss Angel, enabling astounding cargo-carrying capacity for such a small car. The load floor is very low thanks to the centrally mounted fuel tank and specially shaped torsion beam rear suspension. The downsides are cheap-feeling plastics, a brittle ride, twitchy steering, but at least the seat comfort and driving position are much improved over previous generations.
All Honda Fits come powered by a 1.5-litre single-cam i-VTEC engine that’s mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic. It’s worth noting that models equipped with the automatic lose their spare tire. A tire-inflation kit is supplemented instead. An additional fun fact: The Fit is the only car assembled in China on sale in Canada today.
The Honda Fit is available in three trims: DX, LX, and Sport.
Features on the DX include 15-inch steel wheels, power mirrors, power windows, tilt/telescopic steering, fuel consumption display, 2-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio with auxiliary jack, and 60/40 split MagicSeat rear seats with undersest storage compartment. Air conditioning with cabin filtration is optional.
LX trim adds body colour side mirrors, heated mirrors, body colour door handles, body colour rear roofline spoiler, air conditioning with filtration, power locks, remote entry, HandsFreeLink Bluetooth phone connectivity, steering wheel mounted cruise control, driver side armrest, and 4-speaker audio.
Sport trim adds rear stabilizer bar, 16-inch wheels, security system, chrome exhaust tip, fog lights, body colour underbody spoiler kit, leather wrapped steering wheel, and 6-speaker audio with USB jack.
