NEW FOR 2015:

– Revised exterior styling
– Electric power steering replaces hydraulic assist
– Available continuously adaptive dampers, blind-spot monitoring system
– New premium Limited trim level
– EcoBoost 3.5-litre V6 replaces outgoing 5.4-litre V8

Ford’s full-size Expedition hasn’t seen much change over the years, but for 2015 it gets a thorough revision that brings it up to speed against the latest Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon.

While the Expedition gets slightly revised exterior styling including a new grille, projector beam headlamps, new wheels, a revised rear hatch, and LED fog lamps, the biggest change is what’s under the hood. The archaic 5.4-litre three-valve V8 finally gives way to a truly modern powerplant: Ford’s 365-hp, 420 lb-ft of torque 3.5-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6. A six-speed automatic and four-wheel drive comes standard. For those worried that the move to a V6 engine might compromise the Expedition’s ability to haul, rest assured that it still can lug up to 9,000 lbs when properly equipped.

Elsewhere, the Expedition has been upgraded with electric power steering, and available continuously adaptive dampers with three ride modes (normal, comfort, sport), the MyFord Touch interface, plus an instrument cluster with dual 4.2-inch TFT displays.

The Expedition is available in XLT, Limited, and Platinum trims. Limited and Platinum trims are offered in regular and MAX long-wheelbase forms.
