NEW FOR 2015:

-Diesel engine, xDrive 28d trim added

BMW’s mid-range crossover gains a diesel engine option for 2015. It’s a 2.0L four-cylinder turbodiesel that makes 181 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque; it powers the xDrive 28d, which price-wise slots in between the xDrive 28i and 35i models that carry over from last year.

As before, the xDrive 28i gets a turbocharged four-cylinder making 240 hp and 258 lb-ft, while the xDrive 35i uses a turbocharged inline six-cylinder good for 300 and 300 lb-ft.

All three engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and as the xDrive moniker suggests, all three models get all-wheel drive.

Standard equipment in xDrive 28d and 28i models includes 18-inch wheels, engine automatic start/stop, brake energy regeneration, electric power steering, automatic headlights, fog lights, heated side mirrors, heated windshield washer jets, rain-sensing wipers, tire pressure warning, rollover sensor, privacy glass, rear roof spoiler, twin exhaust tipes with chrome finish, ambient lighting, heated steering wheel, cargo area tie-downs, leather-trimmed steering wheel, tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, eight-way power-adjustable heated front seats with driver memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, six-speaker stereo with USB and auxiliary inputs, and Bluetooth.

35i trim adds 19-inch wheels, 12-speaker stereo, twin stainless steel exhaust tips with chrome finish, and bi-xenon headlights.
