NEW FOR 2015:

-No changes

We’re still not used to seeing the low-slung i8 on the road, even as it moves into its second year on the market. A companion to the i3 in BMW’s ‘i’ line, the i8 is a true sports car: it combines a turbocharged three-cylinder engine (shared with the Mini Cooper) powering the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission with an electric motor bolted to a two-speed up front, creating an effective all-wheel drivetrain. Total power output is 362 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.

Standard equipment includes LED 20-inch wheels, head- and taillights, heated windshield washer jets, knee airbags, power-folding side mirrors, dynamic cruise control, tilt-and-telescopic steering, six-way power-adjustable heated front seats finished in leather and cloth, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, 11-speaker stereo with subwoofer and hard-disc media storage, Bluetooth, satellite radio, navigation, and a head-up display.
