All-new last year, Audi has added two new engines to its all-wheel-drive mid-size A6 sedan lineup for 2013. The 310-hp supercharged V6 continues. But Audi’s ubiquitous turbocharged 2.0L I4 has been added. Both use an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The second new mill is a 420-hp twin-turbo 4.0L V8, found under the hood of the also-new S6 sports sedan. The new S6 receives a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic (with paddle shifters), and the addition of an optional torque-vectoring differential between the SC’s rear wheels. Lighter than the older S6, the new one stacks up well against rival mid-size super sport sedan competition like the also-new BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG.
For 2013, the A6 2.0T and 3.0T start in Premium trim and come standard with 17-inch wheels, multi-function steering wheel with manual tilt and telescope, five-inch monochrome driver information system, front, side, curtain and knee airbags, ambient lighting, Audi drive select, music interface with iPod cable, automatic headlights, Audi “pre-sense,” three-zone climate control, auto-dimming interior mirror, Bluetooth, centre console storage, keyless entry, chrome exhaust tips, heated outside mirrors with mirror, eight-way power front seats with four-way power lumbar for driver, folding rear seat with pass-through, sunroof, pushbutton start, leather seating, LED taillights, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers, radio with MMI controller and 6.5-inch screen, satellite radio, space-saving spare tire, tire pressure monitoring and heated front seats.
Premium Plus trim adds 18-inch wheels, colour driver information system, Audi connect, auto-dimming outside mirrors, HD radio, navigation with MMI controller, MMI Touch and Jukebox, park assist with backup camera, intelligent keyless entry and Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights.
In Prestige trim (only available with the 3.0T engine), standard kit includes unique 18-inch wheels, four-zone climate control, steerable headlights, LED ambient lighting, Bose stereo, ventilated front seats, power-adjustable steering column and S line exterior trim.
The speedy S6 gets 19-inch wheels, steerable headlights, S6-exclusive bumpers, sunroof, space-saving spare, alu-optic mirror housings, Valcona leather interior, intelligent keyless entry, LED ambient lighting, navigation with MMI controller and MMI touch, single CD/DVD player and HD radio, Bose stereo, Bluetooth, Audi drive select, four-zone climate control, sport rear differential, adaptive air suspension, aluminum door sills, heated auto-dimming outside mirrors, Audi pre-sense, sport seats, heated 12-way front seats with driver memory and lumbar, three-spoke steering wheel with shift paddles, electric steering column adjustment, Audi connect, music interface with iPod cable, park assist with backup camera, garage door opener and fine-grain ash wood inlays.
