Transport Canada issues latest recalls for some Hondas and Toyotas

Ottawa, Ontario – Transport Canada has issued its latest recalls, which may affect some Honda and Toyota vehicles.

2004-2005 Honda Accord Sedan
Vehicles affected: 9,043

The seat position sensor (SPS), which detects the driver’s seating position and adjusts the airbag inflation pressure accordingly in the event of a crash, has a harness that was incorrectly attached to the eight-way power seat frame. Over time, the sensor harness could break, which would cause the SPS to fail and the airbag warning light to be illuminated. Dealers will replace the SPS wiring harness.

2004-2007 Toyota Sequoia, 2004-2006 Toyota Tundra
Vehicles affected: 11,300

On certain vehicles, a manufacturing issue with the front lower ball joint could result in premature wear. If the vehicle is operated in an extended period of time in this condition, the ball joint may eventually experience excessive wear and looseness; in extreme cases, when the driver continues to operate the vehicle in this condition, the lower ball joint may separate from the knuckle, causing a loss of vehicle steering control. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the front lower ball joints.
