TopSpeed quoting sources “in the know” stating sporty 2+2 will be revealed sometime in first quarter

The 2014 Detroit Auto Show was home to a plethora of sports cars this year. And while the Toyota FT-1 may never see the light of day outside of video game, the Kia GT4 Stinger may actually find its way to production.

Writers at TopSpeed have been chatting with those “in the know” at Kia who are saying the GT4 Stinger could see production before the end of 2014 and a possible production reveal before the end of the first quarter.

According to the source, the exterior design has been finalized but Kia is still working out particulars for the interior. And while the source is not privy to mechanical specifics, TopSpeed speculates an up-tuned version of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the Kia Optima would probably be fitted to Kia’s sport coupe.

All of this contradicts what Kia’s head of design, Peter Schreyer, has said of the 2+2 sports car. When interviewed in January, Schreyer stated the previous Kia GT sedan would be more likely to see production first.
