“The most powerful muscle car ever” will come from Canada

We knew the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat would pack quite the wallop, initially thought to be over 600 hp. But, the 6.2-litre supercharged HEMI Hellcat V8 has really taken the cake – 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque worth of yellowcake uranium, to be exact.

Chrysler, in their official release, has stated the SRT Hellcat is “the most powerful Challenger ever, Dodge’s most powerful V8 ever and the most powerful muscle car ever.”

Also, for the first time, the Challenger SRT will be offered with two different keys – red and black – which will dictate the level of tune for the car. The red key will give you the full 707 hp available. If you are just cruising, you can use the black key to limit output to 500 hp (when’s the last time you read “limit to 500 hp”?).

The Challenger with the nuclear bomb under the hood will be built in Brampton, Ontario and should arrive at Dodge dealers in the third quarter of this year.
