Nissan’s compact Rogue crossover moves into 2016 with new available tech options, including forward emergency braking, Siri Eyes Free, and a suite of emergency service features bundled together as NissanConnect. Also new is an SV Special Edition trim that packages a number of popular comfort/convenience features at a price that bridges the gap between base S and mid-range SV models.

The new Special Edition model is available with front- or all-wheel drive ($27,548 for FWD, and $29,548 with AWD), and includes heated front seats, alloy wheels, intelligent keyless entry, fog lights, cargo area tonneau cover, automatic headlights, six-way power driver’s seat with lumbar, privacy speakers glass (oops!), and a six-speaker stereo.

Forward emergency braking and NissanConnect are standard in SL Premium trim, while Siri Eyes Free is included in SV AWD models with the moonroof and technology packages, as well as in SL AWD Premium trim.

Other running changes include a revised blind spot warning system that uses radar sensors in place of last year’s camera-based setup.

The changes come with nominal price increases: S trim’s base MSRP goes up $200 to $24,648, or $26,448 with AWD.

The new SV Special Edition trim is also available with both drivelines, and starts at $27,548 with FWD, and $29,548 with AWD.

Last year’s SV becomes the SV AWD + Moonroof (which was also included in last year’s version), and carries an MSRP of $30,548, also up $200 from 2015; next up, an SV AWD that bundles the moonroof and technology packages is also new for 2016, and is priced at $31,748. Carried over is an SV with moonroof, tech and family packages, for $32,598, and finally, the SL AWD Premium model also returns, priced at $35,248; both 2016 prices mark $200 increases over the respective 2015 versions.

Styling is unchanged, as shown in the single low-res photo Nissan supplied with its press release.

Not included in those MSRP figures is a hefty $1,760 freight charge. The 2016 Nissan Rogue goes on sale across Canada this month.
