We have to wait nine months until the latest Batman flick–Batman vs Superman: The Dawn of Justice–gets its theatrical release, but Warner Bros and DC Entertainment have already showed off Batman’s latest ride at the 2015 Licensing Expo that just wrapped up in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The folks behind the display didn’t present much in the way of specifications, but they did present a few facts. Tip-to-tail and side-to-side, the wedgy whip is 20 feet by 12, and weighs nearly 3200 kg (7000 pounds); for comparison’s sake, an armoured AM General HMMWV (Hummer) weighs in a 3461 kg (7630 pounds), but is nowhere near as large.

Top speed is quoted at about 328 km/h (205 mph); it doesn’t take a degree in rocket science to know that getting a three-and-a-half ton vehicle up to that kind of speed would require a lot of motor. The movie makers don’t say what’s under the hood, but do offer that this Bat-beast is “Over powered with an unmatched hybrid of prototype military and civilian performance technologies.” It’s fully armoured and boasts anti-ballistics and active protection systems, and has twin 50-cal guns.

Looking at the close-up image of the cockpit, we see an automatic transmission-type shift lever that looks lifted from an old city bus, which suggests there’s either some old-school metal in the engine compartment, or that’s just what Batman wants his foes to think.

This official teaser contains the briefest clip of the vehicle in action; the movie is scheduled to come out in March, 2016.
