Mazda today has issued a recall and stop sale order on all 2014-2016 CX-5 vehicles. They filed a safety defect report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicating a concern that the fuel filler pipe could rupture in the event of a rear collision. This could cause a fuel leakage (and subsequent fire). There are no reports of accidents or injuries as a result of this.

This recall affects over 404 000 vehicles in the US and Canada, and details of a repair have not yet been provided.

If customers have a concern over the safety of their vehicle, Mazda North America Operations recommends contacting their dealer.
