Université Laval has won for five of past six years

This past weekend, teams from all over the Americas congregated in Houston for the city’s last Shell Eco-Marathon Americas and two Canadian universities came out on top.

The University of Toronto almost dethroned Université Laval, the latter experiencing friction problems in their electrical system. Ultimately, the Quebec team came out on top with 2,824 miles per gallon from their Alérion Supermileage entry.

“Our team is very excited with the results of the weekend,” said team captain Audrey Lainé. “Initially we had issues with our engine, but we came together as a team to fix it and are extremely satisfied. The University of Toronto and Mater Dei High School had very close scores to our team, which made the weekend even more exciting.”

Next year, the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas leaves Houston for Detroit.
