New vehicle won’t have Chevrolet sibling

Speaking with reporters from Automotive News, GM boss Mark Reuss stated the GMC brand will get a standalone model not shared by volume brand Chevrolet.

When asked if we’d see a vehicle unique to GMC, Reuss replied, “Oh, yes, you will.”

However, unlike the Granite concept shown at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, the new model probably won’t be a utility.

Ed Welburn, head of GM global design, said all GMC models currently under development are trucks, raising the question where a truck could fit in GMC’s newly expanded model range with the 2015 Canyon.
