Canadian Mitsubishi City Chase team wins world’s largest urban adventure series

Rome, Italy – David Quaschnick of Edmonton, Alberta and James Dean of St. Albert, Alberta have won the 2007 City Chase World Championship, which took place September 27 to 29, 2007 in Rome, after racing more than 50 hours to finish first. The challenge, named the Mitsubishi City Chase in Canada, is the world’s largest urban adventure series.

Ten teams representing Australia, Canada, England, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Spain, Singapore, Portugal and the United States participated, which sees teams equipped with nothing but an empty backpack and their clothes – no money, cell phone, food or water – begin to race immediately after landing in Rome. The teams had to navigate through the city to complete 22 ChasePoint challenges. Among the challenges were participating in Gladiator-style events, kayaking, jumping out of a window and building chariots.

Founded in 2003, City Chase requires participants to exhibit teamwork, resourcefulness, determination and the ability to make decisions on the fly as they search for ChasePoints scattered in unknown locations throughout the city.
