2016 Ford Focus RS pricing leaked

The upcoming 2016 Ford Focus RS is a pretty hot topic right now and will continue to be so until its launch next spring. Ford has been gracious enough to not hold back on any of the specs or information on this highly anticipated hot hatch. With 345 hp and 325 lb-ft, an advanced all-wheel-drive system, torque-vectoring, electronically controlled exhaust flappers and more, it’s the hatch we’ve been waiting for.

We’ve seen videos of the prototype in action, and by Jove, does it ever look like a riot to throw around. We’ve seen it up close and in person. I’ve sat in it and adjusted the seats and mirrors to exactly how I like them to be and have found that I have perfect visibility and can attain the optimal seating position easily. Pretty much anything we need to know to make up our minds on whether or not we want one is out there, except for the last two biggest questions: how much it’s going to cost and what it’s like to actually drive.

Well, yesterday, nafsucof, a user on Jalopnik’s car-buying sub-page, posted up a picture from a Ford USA configurator detailing a 2016 Ford Focus RS with a base price of US$35,730. The US$35K price tag puts it slightly under Volkswagen’s Golf R, just over Subaru’s WRX STI and also just over Mini’s JCW – the RS also boasts a significant horsepower advantage over any other car in its segment, so take that for what it’s worth. For reference sake, it also sits around $3,000 more than a base model Mustang GT.

Now add on navigation, sunroof, 19-inch wheels with Michelin Cup tires and you’re at over $42,000 – that’s a lot of coin for a Ford Focus but if it’s as fun and as capable as it looks to be to drive, then Ford will have no problem selling them at all.

What do you all think of the pricing? Was it inline with what you were expecting? Less, more, or just right? This is a little more than what I was personally hoping for. I was hoping for a $35K CAD price tag to be honest.
