New midsize sedan to feature decoupling rear-axle and 3.6-litre Pentastar V6

Again, the folks over at Jalopnik have gotten meaty details on a Detroit-bound model before its reveal next week.

The new Chrysler 200 – which Ralph Gilles said would set a new standard for Chrysler design – has been leaked thanks to Chrysler themselves pulling the trigger a little too early.

Under the hood will be a choice between Chrysler’s 2.4-litre Tiger Shark four-cylinder engine and the much vaunted 3.6-litre Pentastar V6. Power will be sent to the front or all four wheels via the same 9-speed automatic transmission as the new Jeep Cherokee. The 200 will also get the same decoupling rear-axle as the new Jeep.

More details will be available next week.
