Full-size EcoDiesel returns better highway fuel economy than any other pickup in Canada

Chrysler has released official numbers on their new EcoDiesel equipped RAM 1500 series trucks and it’s nothing less than phenomenal.

After setting an incredibly high bar with the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 trucks with eight-speed transmissions at 7.8L/100km, the Auburn Hills company has bested themselves by returning 7.1L/100km on the highway test cycle for the new 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6.

Also impressive, the EcoDiesel registers a rating of 10.2L/100km on the city cycle, better than any other pickup in Canada except for the four-cylinder Toyota Tacoma with a five-speed manual transmission, making for a combined rating of 8.8L/100km.

Until other automakers start trotting out their diesel 1/2 ton trucks, Ram will be the only manufacturer to offer an oil burner. The EcoDiesel will be good for 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque.
