AutoBild video puts new M cars in motion alongside E30 M3

Thanks to the folks at BMWBlog (post has since been taken down), we can now see the new M3 and M4 in high resolution glory. Even AutoBild has gotten into the action by releasing video (including specs) of the new M4 before its official release.

According to the video, the new M cars will get a 3.0L twin-turbocharged straight six, sporting output numbers of 425 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. The 0-100 km/h charge will take 4.3 seconds (manual transmission) or 4.1 seconds (seven-speed dual-clutch transmission), along to a top speed of 280 km/h.

The new six-cylinder engine is lighter than the outgoing V8 thanks to a magnesium sump and other weight saving measures. It’s expected to tip the scales at 205 kg, 10 kg lighter than its predecessor.

Weight saving makes its way to the cars themselves as well, giving the M3 a power to weight ratio if 280 hp per tonne and the M4 284 hp per tonne.

The cars are expected to make their official, virtual reveal tomorrow in Gran Turismo 6.
