I missed your  point.   That period. '50s through '70s  is, to me, American Classical Music.      I was an MJQ, Brubeck and the various Miles Davis quartets fan myself and now I am into the New Orleans Street Jazz revival epitomized by Tuba Skinny, Shotgun, Smoking Time  and others.
