Good stuff.  Now hopefully GM will use the SAE ratings for the Colorado and Canyon as well.

I don't know why this wasn't standardized long ago. Yeah, its only 3-400lbs but if you see the way some chuckleheads load their pickups out here they are way beyond capacity. Now that they have a known standard, hopefully Transport Canada will start cracking down on these people.
Lighten up Francis.....

how?

cops don't ticket anybody with liftkits, oversized tires, black smoke stacks  and towing over limit would be even harder to detect.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

Weight scales for any suspect vehicle. See a 1/2 ton with a 5th wheel, thats borderline. See a 1 ton with a gooseneck loaded down with a bobcat, attachments and all sorts of equipment, suspect. I know the cops dont give a crap about lift kits and big tires.

I'd be more concerned with non truck vehicles towing over capacity.
9 times out of 10, it's those types I seen crashed because the vehicle couple handle it.

I work on a rural hwy / road that see tons of camping setups go by.  It's interesting to see people go by.
Other day was a slammed Hyundai Tucson towing a fairly large pop up.

The code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. ;D
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Cops don't even ticket people driving with no headlights on!

I don't understand for this source that says with the new SAW tow rating, it shows the GM trucks get a higher tow rating?
