As Nissan USA plans to sell the previous Rogue alongside the redesigned model next year, Canadian customers will not get the same choice

Thank God it's not coming here.  The old model was getting very long in the tooth in many fronts.  It boggles my mind why Nissan would sell the old Rogue in the US, unless they plan to do it at a heavily discounted price.  Or they have excess inventory of parts...

This approach reminds me of GM with the Malibu and the Malibu Classic.

Or the 91-93 Sentra Classic alongside the new gen Sentra at the time. I have to argue that the Classic was a better vehicle, the new gen looked wimpy and uninspired. Or maybe I'm biased because my first car was a 93 Sentra Classic.

Ah right!  I remember that - 1991-1994 B13.  Nissan brought out the 1995-1999 B14 Sentra 4 door & 200SX 2 door, yet they continued to sell the B13 Sentra 2 door.  But if I recall correctly, they only did that in Canada for 95 & 96, not the US.  My cousin had a 96 2 door B13.  Drove me nuts every time you go to non-dealer parts counter because they would give you B14 parts, but the car is a B13.  You had to basically tell them it was a 94.  Sure sucked when you are doing a brake job and realize the pads & rotors you have are completely wrong and need to be returned.

So stupid, considering that in 1996 OBD 2 was mandated, so they had to spend more money just for 1 model year.

This is the exact reason why I try to stay away from models that are Canadian specific, as you are screwed when it comes to parts as you will likely have to go to the dealer and have no options to source parts from aftermarket vendors, or US dealers which is much cheaper.  Prime example - X-trail.

Odd that Nissan would sell the XTrail in Canada only when there was no Rogue, then sell the Rogue in both countries, then sell the Rogue and NewRogue in the US but only the NewRogue in Canada.  In the meantime, other markets have had the XTrail II.
And some cretins think I hate cars.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Like VW with the City Golf and Jetta.   Never understood that except that it probably used up some old parts.

Interesting considering the Rogue is made in Japan.  They must see some kind of opportunity given the economics there to sell an el cheapo version with crazy financing, probably something that will last 6 months or so.  Canadian dealers are very much looking forward to the new one and after being given lots of details so am I.

I'm wondering if they will manufacture the old Rogue in the US.  Is the new Rogue made in Japan or the US?

I believe that the old Rogue is made in Japan - and if that's correct, it seems kinda odd that Nissan would continue to import it (at a heavily discounted price, ~ $20K IIRC).  But the yen is weaker now, so maybe it makes business sense.

The new Rogue is made in the US - I'm assuming the Tennessee plant?  Is it the same platform as the Sentra or Altima?

Not that I'm a fan of the outgoing Rogue (quite the contrary actually) - but I don't get this. Canadians are generally very "value" oriented. I could see the Rogue Select (which as I understand it will be sold at a substantially discounted price) doing very well here. The only reason (excuse?) that I can see is that it would steal too many sales from the new one. I mean besides the new sheetmetal and updated interior its still pretty much all the same running hardware is it not?
