If it sells then I see lower prices coming on the Mirage and the Spark. Amazing deal for those who want a practical, low cost car that's dirt cheap to run.

We just got the official release. Basically, you will be able to buy different colour secondary body panels. Stuff like mirror caps, trunk trim pieces, etc. Also, you can get a stripe down the side.

Great price...but what's the freight/PDI?  $3000?  :rofl2:

Good on Nissan for offering such a cheap car - alternatives in the market are always a positive.  The Versa Note isn't exactly a luxurious vehicle though - if the Micra has the same powertrain, what did they cut to make up for that price differential?

Can we get a strip down the center of the hood? And get a big spoiler for the back?

It's interesting option to replaced the Sentra with this as a commuter vehicle.. Interesting to see that a 4 speed auto is offered instead of a CVT, which might be appeal to many.  I would go stick for sure, if I consider it.  I hope the SV trim has Bluetooth, Ipod interface, these would be must haves in a commuter vehicle.  A/C and cruise control I worry less about in a commuter...

I'd want cruise and AC in a commuter, especially if the commute is longer....

Interesting.  Not sure if I'd buy a 2010/11-ish Civic/Corolla or a new Micra.  With the Corolla you'd get AT/AC/cruise/keyless and it would be worth $8K in two years.  The Micra will be harder to live with (no comforts) and be worth less in two years, but would be new and covered under warranty.

So, I think it depends on how much you desire warranty coverage.

Just imagine how hard it would be to offload a manual transmission Micra in 3-4 years? That would be a tough sell.

Maybe, but maybe not.  Because you'd only be offloading it for only $5 - 7K - and there's a pretty big market for reasonably new vehicles that don't cost much.  Even if they are base, M/T Micras!  I'm not sure the relative depreciation for a Micra would be very good (I'm guessing retained value after 3 years wouldn't be above 60% - just a guess), but due to the low base price the absolute depreciation won't be that much.

Of course, that's assuming Nissan actually sells any of the $9995 versions - or is that just for promotional purposes?  Maybe dealerships will they only sell $15K versions?

Well my wife does 100km total, but she leaves at 6am in the morning, pretty rare that it's above 25C in the AM.  And she leaves work at 7:30pm, also not too often that it's above 25C.  So the A/C doesn't get used that much, neither does the cruise...

I'm sure there will always be one at a dealership (or a dealership close by) to be used as advertising fodder.

This is such an awesome price.
I don't usually like Nissans but I think this Micra might just put the Mitsu Mirage (in general) out of business.

Price and the 109hp compared to the 75hp  (25% increase) would be the main attraction over the Mirage.

Still I would opt for the slightly more expensive Mazda2 if I was shopping in this class.

The Mirage also looks like a crude, 80's subcompact.  :-X

Hard to say. Those old Suzuki Swifts and Ford Festivas have almost cult like followings. Those Daewoo Suzukis and Pontiacs, not so much
