The Mini has its pluses and minuses but the pluses certainly outweigh the faults in this new incarnation of the classic. Mini has nailed the 2014 Cooper by providing a lower entry price with more performance and more features than before.
The ride quality has improved while the fun-to-drive factor has not been affected negatively at all. The engine performance boost transforms the car and no longer forces you to buy a Cooper S for everyday commuting.
But not only does the Cooper offer the performance but it offers the efficiency as well, with auto start/stop to save fuel when idling at traffic lights and a super efficient engine that delivered an average of just 5.8 L/100 km over the course of the week for me.
I have always enjoyed the Mini but was never a fan of the base Cooper engine or the overly harsh ride. For 2014 you owe it to yourself to take this one for a test drive if you have been on the fence – it is that much better.
