Could Honda’s hot hatch make it to North America?

We have all seen photos of the concept Civic Type R making the auto show rounds. Now it’s time Honda takes the blanket off a production version of their hot hatch.

Expected to arrive later this year in Europe, the new Civic Type R will make its first official public appearance at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show on March 3rd. It will be supported by the new Acura NSX, Honda Jazz (Fit), Honda HR-V, and FCV Concept fuel cell vehicle.

Rumours have been circulating over the last few weeks of the Civic Type R coming to North America, possibly with a new five-door hatch in the next generation of Honda’s currently sedan and coupe-only offering.

No output details were given, but we’d wager the new Civic Type R will produce well past 300 hp from its brand new turbocharged 2.0L VTEC four-cylinder.

Hey, Honda: bring it here already.
