Let us introduce the Aston Martin Vulcan. A glorious 7.0L literal fire-breathing, track-only V12 supercar reported to push out over 800 horsepower. Before reading any further, take a moment to ogle the impossibly sexy design and the all-too-short teaser video below. I’ll be honest here and admit I shuddered a little when the Vulcan fired up, causing me to go into sensory overload.

Depending on which way you look at it, Vulcan was the god of fire in ancient Roman mythology or it was also the home of Commander Spock – Captain Kirk’s highly logical and ultra-capable right-hand-alien. Vulcan was annihilated by a rogue Romulan in 2009’s Star Trek. Both are pretty awesome and so far, Aston Martin’s take on the Vulcan is shaping up to be worthy of its moniker.

Only 24 of the limited-edition Vulcans are being sold to the public and if you want one, you’re going to have to pony up a cool 1.5 million pounds or 2.9 million Canadian loonies. For that kind of money, along with arguably Aston’s most extreme supercar, you get a free “Intensive Track Driving Training” with Aston Martin Racing drivers like Le Mans-winning Darren Turner. Along with your new Vulcan, the track program will offer machines like V12 Vantage S, Vantage GT4, and the holy unicorn of Aston’s fleet, the venerable One-77.

As a source of pride of us Canadians, the Vulcan’s two-seater carbon fibre monocoque body will be built in Canada by Multimatic (also building the Ford GT). The Vulcan’s V12 will be mounted front-midship. An Xtrac six-speed sequential gearbox adapted from Aston Martin’s GTE race cars and a magnesium driveshaft will put the 800 ponies to the ground. Massive calipers with 380mm ceramic racing brake discs up front and 360mm discs in the back keep things settled.

We’re beyond excited for the reveal in all its glory at the Geneva Motor Show next week. Until then, feast your eyes upon possibly one of the sexiest cars in existence in the photos below.
