It may not be a Celica GT-Four, but this Yaris means business

Toyota is taking a serious stab at racing in 2015. While its Lexus division builds a factory racing program, named Lexus F Racing, from the ground up, Aiko Toyoda has been giving the new Yaris WRC a shakedown.

Toyota will make its return to WRC in 2017 after an 18-year absence. The company last campaigned a Corolla WRC in 1999. Here’s to hoping it’s a much smoother start than the Mini WRC program.

In addition to its new WRC activities, Toyota announced the Lexus RC F GT3, revealed in Detroit, will race in Super GT in JGTC and will provide the car for “use in grass-roots motorsports” elsewhere.

A full account of Toyota’s planned motorsport activities for 2015 can be found on the Global Newsroom website. There’s a lot of information (for those who want it), so you might want to get a coffee first.
