Since the cancellation of the legendary Top Gear, the Internet has been ablaze with rumours and speculation about where the Top Gear gang will be headed to next. There was never any doubt that Clarkson, Hammond and May would be able to land a new deal somewhere if they so pleased, so it was just a matter of waiting to see who would be able to sign them first. It’s pretty clear that the household names could pretty much ask for anything they wanted (within reason), so it just became a waiting game to find out who could and would offer them what they wanted.

Well, the Internet rumour train can stop now – Amazon have just announced that the former Top Gear Trio have just reunited and signed on for a new car-themed (duh) show, exclusively for Amazon Prime members. Even better news, the trio have managed to sign Andy Wilman as well, Top Gear’s long-time executive producer. The global show is set for its season premiere in 2016, with production beginning very soon.

For now, the team have signed a three-season deal to start with.

Clarkson, true to form, managed to throw a jab at his former employers in the press release when he spoke on working with Amazon, “I feel like I’ve climbed out of a bi-plane and into a spaceship.”

Hammond, also true to form, said, “Amazon? Oh yes. I have already been there. I got bitten by a bullet ant.”

May, the resident dinosaur, also true to from, said, “We have become part of the new age of smart TV. Ironic, isn’t it?”

You can bet that the season premiere of the new show will be one of the most highly anticipated shows of 2016.
