Updated engine will produce 580 hp with hybrid tech co-developed by Williams F1
The folks at 7tune have shown a spread from a Japanese magazine purporting to know details on the next generation Nissan GT-R. And, if true, we are in for one helluva ride.
It’s been rumoured for a while the next GT-R would get some kind of electric power assistance to go along with another feisty V6 powerplant. The magazine states the engine will be an updated version of the current twin-turbo engine, instead making 580 hp versus the 545 hp available in the current base GT-R. Electric propulsion will bring the total number up to 800 hp.
That electric hybrid system is rumoured to be co-developed with Williams F1, according to Car and Driver.
Performance numbers are estimated to be 2.7 seconds for the sprint to 60 mph and a quarter-mile time at 10 seconds dead. Top speed? 211 mph (340 km/h).
